How crowns are suppose to look and feel on the back?

I had 2 crowns done last week. One is a front tooth and I notice that that is one little silver “bump” showing on the very top, close to the gums that is bothering me because I keep running my tongue on it. My husband has bruxism and he was so tired of patching up his front teeth that he crowned all six of them, his procedure was finished a week before mine, and the back of his teeth is more than half showing the metal, but it’s nice and smooth. He thinks that is something wrong with mine. I also, just notice that the other crown is showing a speck of this metal too, so now I don’t know if its normal or the dentist screw it up. On top of that, I crowned the front one because it was very dark and different from the others and it could not be whitened. But the new color is kind of greyish, not as noticeable as before but still dark,it doesn’t look as I expected, and that was the whole point that I had it done. I’ve read about crowns that were too white, so mine is kind of a different case. I can always make my real teeth whiter to match the crown, but I can’t do the opposite.

I’m kind of going back to complain about the color anyways, but do you think that the “silver bump” and the “silver speck” are suppose to be there? I have a different crown done 4 years ago and it’s all white, nothing showing, that’s why I’m concern. My husband’s were made special because of his bruxism condition, so that’s why they are all metal on the back, I guess…also, before you ask, we go to different dentists for insurance purposes.
Thank you

I had a dental implant near my front teeth 2 away from center teeth..the tooth next to the implant had to be pull some time ago…

I was just eating and then I noticed my implant was gone so I think I swallowed it,

Without this tooth having two missing teeth looks horrible…I am embarrassed to go out. I( am very poor.\
my question is..if I am able to find the tooth, might it be fixable. No post is sticking out of my mouth..a long time ago it fell at as it was considered a failure as it was initially loose in an experimental program that had a higher rate of success at the time..I have had it for 22 years.

When it fell out before I did not swallow it and I cannot remember if a post was sticking out of my gums or the tooth but I do know they pounded it back into my bone and it was ok for many years. This is my question if nothing is sticking out of my gums and I can retrieve the tooth. might it still be fixable.

if not, can they make another one..what needs to be OK the bone post sticking out of the bone..if that is ok can they make another tooth and post and how much might that cost..I have had bone loss and gum loss and some of the metal showed about the tooth when it was on there..I noticed earlier today that it felt odd like kind of feeling it was more forward in my mouth put thought it must be because I have severe bruxism and lost my mouth guard and can’t afford one and I was pushing the implant more forward in my mouth…

On top of it, it feels very uncomfortable without it like my lips is being cut and hitting my other tooth because the implant was more forward than the other teeth and held my lip away from the tooth next to it so it hurts to talk and even just sit here quiet.

I cannot get it fixed at the cheap college school of dentistry as once for another dental matter, I had a cheap, undependable car and it broke on my way there causing me t be late or miss appointments a few times and the guy banned me for life from going there that is where I initially got the implant..my dentist does not do this nor my insurance cover it..a partial was unsuccessful in the past so I have no options but the implant (or pulling all my teeth and getting dentures which I do no want. I do not even know where to go fro help. I do have a small amount of money from when my mom recently died but the bulk went for a serious car accident I was in recently that I only had liability on..please help so much is happening I am flashing suicidal thoughts..I need to know

1. if I find the tooth, is it likely repairable ..that is, if the post is still in my bone

2. how long do I have before the hoe the tooth was in (where the post was heals to get it back in there)

3. if the tooth is lost for good and the post is still in there, how much does it cost to make a new tooth and post about

4. if I have lost gum and bone since it was done will they make me a new tooth if the post is still screwed in my bone

thanks
yay..I just retrieved it and it seems ok

I use a night guard for bruxism (tooth grinding) and it causes my gums and sometimes my tongue to be swollen when i wake up in the morning. I’ve been using the night guard for almost 2 months now, and have gotten used to it, but the swelling continues. Is this dangerous? Should i stop using the night guard? Am i possibly allergic to the plastic in the night guard? Has anyone else experienced this?

Custom-made temporary crowns on front teeth seem too big. Can I change them before getting perm crowns made?

Amy asked:

I am having restoration performed after severe bruxism. I had many crowns in the past, most of which are being replaced. Had three root canals, crown lengthening in the rear quadrants, and bite opened with 11 custom-made temporary crowns in the rear. Now I had the last six custom crowns put on my top front teeth. They seem really big. I know they will be somewhat bigger, but the actual crown is higher up on my gums now that the surrounding teeth. They just look too big for my smile.

The dentist already reduced these crowns before installing them. Can the permanent crowns be made “smaller” or “shorter” than these to look better, or will I need to have another set of temporary crowns made first? I really liked my front teeth until this procedure, and now my smile appearance really bothers me.

I go back in a week to check the fit and then do impressions etc to order the permanent crowns.

Protruding bone under gums from clenching teeth?

Hi,
I have been diagnosed with bruxism (clenching my teeth) and I have a question regarding my bone/gums.. On the upper left side of my mouth the bone under my gums is protruding out.. this has been going on for a long time, but it never bothered me.. It is protruding so much now that my gums are bleeding (only on the side that is protruding tho). What is this called?? I know it is from clenching my teeth, is there any surgery that can remove/file the bone to a normal size? Im so confused!! Thanks!

Lindsey
