My old camera was a 6 megapixel Samsung. It was pretty great. The only gripe I have is that it took poor pictures at night. We had some good times together, but tragically, I crushed it with my car. I’m now looking for a good camera that isn’t over $200, $250 max and I want it to be able to take good pictures at night. The Samsung took good pictures if I was able to keep it completely still. Any ideas?

swap meet!!!!!!!!!!!!
In that price range, your best option is anything made by Canon.
Night time pictures are not very easy for a “pocket camera” to do. Especially since the flash is only good for about 6 feet.
My camera is a Canon one. It is awesome
It is £140 in english money… Which is under $200 I think
nikkon cool pix I have one under $140 and happy.
good photos good resolution and transfer phots are great .
Most of the newer P&S cameras will shoot at ISO’s of 1600.
All P&S cameras will be noisy at 1600 ISO to some extent basically because the sensors are so small.
If you have tripod and the camera can shoot exposures of 15 seconds or more, you can shoot at lower ISO’s and reduce the noise.
Look here for cameras in your price range.
I have a GE that has a lot of settings to do things with it. It even takes video. Got it as a gift, but I think it was around $80.
Other good cameras are Fuji and Cannon.
Sony Cybershot DSC120 is awesome. 149.00 at Walmart. Was on sale for 129.00 at circuit city. Easy to use. Takes great pics.
You can buy a 4 gig memory stick at Pricewatch for like 20.00
I would recommend SD790 IS. It is a 10 megapixel camera with 3x image stabilized zoom lens.
If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money, check out the P&S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 which has more features than most pro DSLRs that require auxiliary lenses not even equal to the single initial full-range lense that comes with the FZ28. It is reviewed at:
It just came out on November 4, 2008.
It’s an all-in-one 10.1 megapixel DSLR camera which includes (i) built-in image stabilization; (ii) HDTV quality video [Quicktime]; (iii) a 18x zoom [27 - 486 mm (35mm equiv.)] “Leica” lense for nature photography; (iv) up to 0.39 inch macro option; (v) up to 6400 ASA; (vi) takes up to 380 pictures per 120 min. battery charge; (vii) has a “burst speed” of 13 fps; and sells new for $270 at amazon.com.
Here’s an actual handheld picture of the moon [which cannot be done without use of a tripod mounted D80]:
Good luck!
Oh~` which is hard to buy. Find the camera online, maybe you can find the price. Good luck
